Day three of Hondy life. Before you start reading I must update you, our project had changed last minute due to some difficulties so Kat (my partner) & I are now placed in a Christian school in San Juan Pueblo (40 mins from the beach! #winning).

Our bedroom view

As I write this I am sat directly in front of my new bff (the fan, sorry Kat x). We have yet to start teaching in the school but have found out who we'll be teaching, kat is teaching science, history and English to 5th grade and I'll be teaching English to the 9th, 10th and 11th grade. This news did come as a shock because I thought I'd be teaching primary school children. Although I will be able to sit in lessons with different year grades my focus will be on planning lessons and teaching the 9th, 10th and 11th grade. This is very daunting to me to say the least (some of these kids are 17) so I am quite nervous and apprehensive of what's to come. As the school year for mine and Kat's classes hasn't actually begun yet we've been preparing our lessons, decorating class rooms and sitting in on the primary 1st graders lessons (they are SO cute!). I became friends with one of the 'naughty' girls in the class, maybe because she reminds me of myself when I was younger?

Putting my child whispering skills to use

Kat & I walked home alone today and experienced our first taste of Honduran masculine men in the famous words of Joey from friends - "hey, how you doing?" (original eh?!) Well if you're interested, I'm very sweaty and very tired (jet lag has hit Kat & I harder than expected - she's actually having a nap as I write this).

The food here is interesting to say the least, mainly rice & beans (or beans & rice!) but I am enjoying the new culture and experiencing new foods although I think I'll stick to water rather than the endless bottles of coke & Pepsi that seem to be on hand everywhere!! We moved into our flat two days ago and are living with a couple from El Salvador (one of which can't speak any English and the other has broken English) and a hilarious girl from Alabama, US called Alex. We've already made a rota for cooking (kat & I are cooking next week oh dear :/) but this week is Alex so as well as the Honduran food we're having at school for breakfast and lunch we're having American food for dinner (very multicultural!) We had the classic American hotdogs for dinner last night, excited to see what's on the menu for our dinner tonight.

That's it for now

Ffi x
